Brian Foster turns 40!!

We're late as usual, his birthday was on the 29th, but close enough.  Hats off to a true BMX legend and the hopes for another 40 years of Brian Foster!

X Games 2012

There are a lot of valid reasons to hate on the X Games (ditching MTB dual slalom in '96 being one of them, dropping BMX dirt another), but since it is happening right now, we'll stand down.  Being bike riders, here's what you'll want to know:

BMX Street:
1) Garrett Reynolds (video)
2) Chad Kerley (video)
3) Dakota Roche (video)

BMX Park:
1) Scotty Cranmer
2) Ryan Nyquist (video)
3) Drew Bezanson (best run overall in my opinion)

BMX Vert:
1) Simon Tabron
2) Jamie Bestwick
3) Steve McCann

Pennsylvania Dirt

Slapping Pennsylvania dirt with a Pennsylvania beer nearby for backup makes the hottest day of the year seem a little cooler.

Cam Zink Shreds

Maybe the biggest backflip I've ever seen. At the end of a sick ridge line with plenty of huge drops, no less. Check it:

Hauck Tore his ACL

Adam Hauck was at Highland mountain bike park training for the up coming season when he crashed on a 360 tail whip to bar resulting in tareing his ACL and MCL. He went under the knife yesterday Friday the 16th. Every thing went well and recovery is well on the way.

Below is a video of an animated video of the procedure.

Reality Redesigned

Take something really cool like giving mountain bikers and engineers the chance to redesign any aspect of the mountain bike that they desire and combine it with something really stupid like a reality show, and you get something like Reality Redesigned.

The concept is noble, riders come up with fixes for the most troublesome aspects of the bicycle and then compete to sell their idea to a team of engineers and hardcore riders. The finalists get to use all manner of design tools and simulation software to bring their idea to life and, I hope, come up with something the improves bicycle design forever.

3 minutes at a time is about all I can handle of the host, so I'll stick to the webisodes to see how this pans out. Here is the most recent update:

Teva Mountain Games

It's 8:!5 in the morning and I'm eating my breakfast of pizza and beer while browsing the interweb to find some skiing videos to get amped for the day -- the lifts start spinning in 15. Instead, I find this preview for the 2012 Winter Teva Mountain Games. Hauck, Lenosky, and Ebbet talk about the new courses and events to look forward to with lot of sick riding thrown in between. Now I feel like I should be ripping my bike down the hill instead...
